SABA-SC understands the importance of community service. Each year, SABA-SC organizes “day of service” events where our members and their families help local charitable organizations. Recently, SABA-SC members volunteered to assist Operation Gratitude where they prepared care packages, stuffed teddy bears and made paracord bracelets for our troops and their families. SABA-SC also has volunteered for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

SABA-SC organizes educational programs to raise awareness of social and legal issues impacting our community, and to help lawyers succeed in their profession. Each year, SABA-SC hosts a “Chai Chat” featuring federal and state judges describing their paths to the bench, and offering tips on effective oral advocacy and ways we can promote diversity on the bench. This past year, SABA-SC also organized a panel of law firm partners describing their paths to partnership, and discussing how young lawyers can set themselves up for success at their law firms.

Mentorship is important to the success of any lawyer. Our Mentorship Program is a full year program that offers law students and attorneys of all levels of experience with an opportunity to develop their careers, learn from the experiences of others, and form lasting professional relationships. Our Program consists of mentorship teams of 4-5 people ranging in experience and practices.

Our Annual Public Interest and Installation Dinner is our largest event of the year where we celebrate community service, welcome our new boards, and honor distinguished guests with the Judicial Appreciation, Trailblazer of the Year and Public Interest awards.
